Sea Solace
White flashes of feathers
flit overhead.
Salt teases the nostrils.
Spray flicks the rocks at my feet.
A deep-seated wooden chair
fills in for God's arms
and the sea breeze
His caressing hand.
Tensions flee
beneath
His comforting touch.

Resurrection
The ocean swallows the sun
and flaming fingers try to lift
it back into the sky;
but the waves reach to
pull them under with the sun
until only a rose halo glows
over the ocean grave of today.
The sky wears black to mourn
the lost day
donning diamonds in formal attire
grieving, lost, the light of day
until morning becomes half morning;
grey to lavender to gold
as the sun is reborn
to rise again from the deep
like Jesus rose to life from death
and lifts us from the grave.
Life from death.
