Hang Gliding off the Mountain
This photo was taken a few yards from the hang gliders' platform on Lookout Mountain, Georgia, where brave people jump off the mountain and, hopefully, softly touch down on the landing field below. Although I'm not interested in jumping off mountain cliffs with a giant parachute strapped to my back, I am interested in jumping into several new ventures. I'm beginning this blog which captures highlights from my newsletter. For the full newsletter, which also includes websites and lists of free books and bargain books online each month, click on the Home page of this website and fill out the form to sign up. Another venture I've started is to republish my poetry book about God's beauty's on St. Simons Island, Georgia. Through the months of June through August, I'm offering it as a free downloadable pdf to my newsletter subscribers. Or you can buy it for $1.99 at the retailers on my Books page. And, the final book in the Megan O'Connell series is on sale for .99 from June 13 through Monday, June 17. To find a retailer, click on the Books menu at the top of this page.
I think the picture in this post is inspiring. Sometimes we do need to take a leap of faith. Faith in God to hold us until we land softly back on earth. It can be scary standing on the mountain looking down into the valley. When I stood on this spot watching the hang gliders jump off and then float aloft with their wide parachute wings before circling down to their landing field, I thought how beautiful and tranquil it looked. However, I didn't know what the person floating in the air felt. Was he or she nervous? Excited? Scared? I couldn't tell by looking. When I'm jumping into new ventures, I have to remind myself that no matter how scared or nervous I feel inside, God can guide me gently to earth. Blessings! Joan
